(Arlington, TX)  —  There’s now a Texas Rangers practice field named after the late country music legend Charley Pride.

Pride was a Rangers fan who bought a share of the team in 2010.  Before he became a country star, Pride was a pro pitcher in the Negro Leagues and the minors in the 1950s.  Pride died in December from coronavirus complications at the age of 86.

Charley Pride Field is at the Rangers’ spring training facility.
