(Austin, TX) — A state botanist says Texans are in for a great bluebonnet spring.
Jason Singhurst, a botanist with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, says he saw pictures of bluebonnets in bloom in Central Texas that were covered with ice in mid-February. But he says rain and moderate temperatures should bring the flowers back for a great viewing season.
Bluebonnets are still expected to peak at the end of March through mid-April. Blooming should begin in Central Texas near I-10 between Houston and San Antonio, and then north toward DFW.
