(Arlington, TX) — The Texas Rangers are starting a new youth initiative named for the late country music star Charley Pride.
The ten-week fellowship program will give participating juniors and seniors a feel for working in an MLB office, from front office activities to advertising and marketing, to baseball operations. Pride’s wife Rozene was present for Thursday’s announcement, along with country music stars Garth Brooks, Larry Gatlin, and Neal McCoy.
Thursday would have been Pride’s 87th birthday. He died of coronavirus in December.
