(Austin, TX) — Texas is the latest state to consider allowing people to wager on both professional and amateur sporting events.
It’s estimated that sports betting would bring in as much as $180-million in new revenue for state. The Sports Betting Alliance says there are safeguards in place to prevent kids from gambling away their allowance. A hearing on Wednesday in the Texas Legislature came as the state of Arizona is poised to allow sports gambling.
The Alliance says it’s part of a nationwide trend.
