(Cleburne, TX) — Bond is set at over a million dollars for the man accused of shooting a Burleson police officer.

Jerry Elders is being held in the Johnson County Jail on multiple charges including aggravated assault on a public servant and theft.  He has not been charged yet in Wednesday’s carjacking and killing of a Joshua woman, a short time after the officer was shot.  Police say Elders was later captured in Cooke County driving her vehicle.

Despite being shot multiple times, Burleson Police Officer Joshua Lott was released from the hospital Thursday afternoon and received a caravan escort by police vehicles from all over North Texas.  Lott gave a thumbs up as he headed home to recover.
