(Dallas, TX)  —  A nonprofit group is doing what it can to rid a Dallas cemetery of an invasion of wild hogs.

The animals have done considerable damage to the Lincoln Memorial Cemetery on Dowdy Ferry Road in far southeast Dallas.  The organization called “Hogs for a Cause Texas” traps wild hogs to provide meat for veterans.

Members set several live-capture traps at the cemetery on Tuesday.

The group posted on Facebook this morning:

“as of 5:30 am this morning one trap and two cell cameras have already been stolen from the cemetery in Dallas where Coy Hirth with Slappy’s Trapping, Andy Perrault and Chris Matthews with HFACTX deployed them in hopes of alleviating some of the damage to gravesites for the local community. While the thief’s were in the process of stealing the trap and cameras we contacted Dallas Police Dept and instead of sending someone to stop them, we were told to get online and fill out a theft form. Even with live feed of the thief’s we were powerless to stop them. With all the media spins on the devestation and the huge cry for help from the community, you would think that the police would have done a drive through and stopped the vandals. Very hard to do a job and help people out if equipment is stolen!! Positive note, one big boar was removed this morning from one of the traps not stolen last night.”
