Strong Winds Overturn Big Rigs On I-35E

(Waxahachie, TX) — At least 3 people were injured on I-35E in Ellis County when high winds overturned several 18-wheelers on Monday night.

The accident happened south of Waxahachie, where at least three big rigs were blown over onto their sides. Emergency crews closed the freeway in both directions to clear the scene and rescue anybody who needed it, resulting in a traffic backup. The freeway reopened early this morning.

It’s not yet clear whether the trucks were blown over by a tornado or by straight-line winds.
