(Decatur, TX) —  A manhunt in Wise County has been scaled back to an investigation.

The sheriff’s office has canceled the Blue Alert for a man accused of shooting a Rhome police officer in the leg during a traffic stop on Sunday.  The suspect, identified as 43 year old Royce Wood, is still on the loose.

But Wise County Sheriff Lanny Akins says local residents were complaining that the Blue Alert notices on cellphones were disruptive.  The wounded officer is home from the hospital.
