(Austin, TX) — Gov. Greg Abbott’s call for a crowd-funded border wall is getting results.
The governor’s office said on Wednesday the project had received 459-thousand-dollars in private donations in about a week. Abbott had said he would earmark 250-million-dollars in state funds as a “down payment” for the wall. A spokesperson says the donors’ names and the amounts they donated are only available through public information requests.
Abbott has directed the Texas Facilities Commission to hire a manager to figure out where the wall will be built.
