(Weatherford, Tx) – A historic Parker County building is a total loss after possibly being set on fire.

The Parker County Fire Marshal’s Office is looking for information on what they say could be an arson fire at the old Carter School and Church building in the Carter Community located off Hwy 51 between Weatherford and Springtown.

It happened Thursday afternoon.  A caller reported the fire and saw two boys running from the vacant property.  Investigators say don’t have a good description of the boys and are asking for the public’s help. The building is believed to date back to shortly after the Civil War.

According to a Facebook post by the Central Community Volunteer Fire Department, the land was originally owned by Weatherford ISD and later transferred to Parker County.
