Tarrant County To Implement New Cite-And-Release For Low-Level Offenders

(Fort Worth, TX) — Tarrant County officials say they are implementing a new policy to cite and release low-level misdemeanor offenders.

The Tarrant County Law Enforcement Association said yesterday that officers will have the option to cite and release people who face Class A and B misdemeanors. The citation will still be filed with the DA’s office and include a mandate for the person to appear before a magistrate.

Other Texas counties with cite-and-release policies are Bexar, Dallas, Harris, and Travis.
