(Fort Worth, TX)  —  The Fort Worth Police Department says a new anti-crime initiative is getting results.

The new program, known as Fort Worth SAFE, started in mid-May, and uses technology and intelligence to help the police identify crime hot spots.  Officers have been targeting crime-prone areas to combat a spike in violent crime.

Police Chief Neil Noakes says the initiative has resulted in more than 100 arrests so far, and has taken more than 100 illegally owned weapons off the streets, including AR-15s.
