(Irving, TX) — The Big 12 Conference says they’re cracking down on taunting, especially one sign aimed at Texas Longhorn players.
Greg Burks, the Big 12 coordinator of officials, says a point of emphasis for the league this year will be discouraging the use of the “Horns Down” symbol. Burks says, “If you do a ‘Horns Down’ to a Texas player as an opponent, that’s probably going to be a foul.” But if a player turns to the crowd and throws the sign, it probably won’t be a penalty.
Burks added that they’ll leave the decision to the officials.
