(Denton, TX) —  ICUs are almost at full capacity as the Delta variant sweeps through North Texas.

The DFW Hospital Council is reporting that ICU beds are at an occupancy of 96-percent for 19 counties.  Officials say more than one-third of those patients are positive for COVID-19.  For the first time in five months, the North Texas region passed 2,000 COVID-19 patients.

Concern is now mounting as students prepare to go back to school and vaccination rates continue to lag in the state.
