(Waco, TX)  —  There will not be any major NCAA penalties for Baylor for a football sex assault and violence scandal.

The NCAA Committee on Infractions says the panel would have to ignore Association rules to hand down serious punishment to the school for what happened while Art Briles ran the football program.  Committee members say ignoring the rules would go against the integrity of the infractions process while noting the school admitted to “moral and ethical failings.”

Baylor will be on probation for four years, fined $5,000 and lose some official and unofficial visits.   Briles was fired in 2016 after a Baylor-funded probe found the team failed to take action on sex assault or non-sex assault allegations or convictions.
