Suspect Sought In Shooting Of Clay County Deputy

(Henrietta, TX) — A statewide Blue Alert was issued after a Clay County deputy was shot about 7:30 Monday night while making a traffic stop southeast of Wichita Falls.

Deputy Breanton Chitwood was shot in the chest at the Jolly Truck Stop, but he escaped serious injury because the gunshot hit his bulletproof vest. He’s expected to be ok. Chitwood was able to get off several shots at the suspect’s car, a white Cadillac four-door sedan with a stolen Texas license plate.

The suspect is described as a slim white man in his mid-20s. He got away and is considered armed and dangerous.
