(Austin, TX)  —  The special election runoff to fill a vacant North Texas seat in the state Legislature is scheduled for September 28th.

Gov. Greg Abbott announced on Tuesday the date of the runoff to replace former state Rep. Jake Ellzey, a Waxahachie Republican who vacated the seat when he was elected to the U.S. Congress.

Two Republicans are in the runoff.  John Wray held the District 10 seat prior to Ellzey, and Brian Harrison worked at the Department of Health and Human Services under the Trump administration.

Early voting starts on Monday.
