(Weatherford, Tx) –  It didn’t take long for Weatherford Police to catch a suspected bank robber after a brief car chase down I-20.

Police say shortly after 4:30 Wednesday afternoon, a man in his 40’s carrying a back with his face covered, walked into the Chase Bank on I-20 in Weatherford and demanded an undisclosed amount of money from the Tellar.  The man took off with the cash in a dark SUV with no license plate.

Officers spotted the suspect’s vehicle at the intersection of Holland Lake Dr and the I-20 service road.  That’s where the chase started, passed into Hudson Oaks then eventually ended up westbound on the Fort Worth Highway (US 180).

The man drove the SUV off the road into a fence and stopped in the middle of a field where he got out and ran.  He was caught 100 yards from the vehicle and taken into custody.  The case is still under investigation.
