(Azle, Tx) – A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of an Azle woman earlier this week.
The Parker County Sheriff’s Office says they got a call Tuesday night that a shooting had taken place at a home on Cedar Creek Drive in Azle. The caller reported hearing several shots and a woman screaming. He searched the home and found her lying on the kitchen floor bleeding. He said he also saw another relative, identified as 37-year-old Matthew Ray Russell holding a rifle before fleeing the home. Sheriff’s deputies found the victim, 64-year-old Rebecca Caffey Russell, dead from apparent gunshot wounds.
Deputies searched the area for the suspect, who later turned up in the Palo Pinto County jail on a charge of Public Intoxication.
Matthew Russell has since been moved to the Parker County jail on a charge of first-degree murder with bail set at $1 million.
