(Fort Worth, TX) — The latest U.S. Census indicates the Asian population in North Texas is growing faster than any other demographic group in the area.
The state’s one-and-a half-million Asians make up 6% of the Texas population. The 2020 census counted more than 129,000 Asians in Tarrant County, a 53% increase from the 2010 census.
An Truong, a Vietnamese immigrant, has been elected mayor of Haltom City twice. He says the Census may undercount Asians because their culture values privacy.
