(Washington, DC) — The Supreme Court will consider the new abortion law in Texas today.
Justices fast-tracked oral arguments in the case, but a ruling may not come for months. Texas abortion providers and the Justice Department have challenged the new law in two separate cases. Challengers argue the new law violates longstanding constitutional protections for abortion.
Texas officials claim the plaintiffs aren’t entitled to sue the state.
The law bans most abortions in the state after six-weeks of pregnancy.
