(Dallas, TX) —  A new poll suggests next year’s Texas governor’s election is a dead heat.

The Texas Hispanic Policy Foundation survey found Republican Greg Abbott leading Democrat Beto O’Rourke 43 to 42% with 12% undecided in a potential contest.  O’Rourke has yet to announce whether he’ll run for governor.

A potential three-way contest between Abbott, O’Rourke, and Matthew McConaughey features Abbott leading 40-37 over O’Rourke with McConaughey getting 9%.  The Oscar-winning actor is considering a run for the governor’s mansion but hasn’t confirmed anything.

The group notes it talked to over 14-hundred registered voters in Texas and purposefully oversampled Hispanics to focus more on the demographic.
