(Austin, TX) — Texas health officials are reporting just over 2,800 people hospitalized statewide for coronavirus as of Monday.
That’s about a fifth of the summer peak of nearly 14,000 hospitalizations in late August. The high for the entire pandemic was more than 14,200 Texans hospitalized in January. Last Thursday, state health officials started including children ages five to 11 in their vaccination reports. That brings down the overall vaccination rate because of the expanded population.
There are currently 15.6 million people (53.7% of the population) that are fully vaccinated in Texas.
