Member Of King Ranch Family Runs For State Land Commissioner

(Austin, TX) — A member of the family that’s owned the King Ranch in South Texas for generations is running for state land commissioner as a Democrat.

Jay Kleberg made the announcement, saying he wants to preserve the state’s 13-million acres of public land and fight climate change. Republican State Senator Dawn Buckingham is also in the running and has the support of former President Trump.

GOP incumbent George P. Bush is running for state attorney general in 2022 instead of another term as land commissioner.
