(Austin, TX) — After a poor showing in the 2020 election year, and facing tough elections in 2022, several candidates want to be the new chair of the Texas Democratic Party.
Gilberto Hinojosa has held the seat since 2012 and says he’s staying put. Mineral Wells resident Ret. Air Force Col Kim Olson announced Sunday she’s running for the position. Olsen has unsuccessfully run for agriculture commissioner and Congress. Carroll Robinson, chair of the Texas Coalition of Black Democrats, plans to make an announcement in January.
Other names are also being discussed, several months before the election.
