(Weatherford, Tx) – A 22-year-old Abilene man has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 15-year-old Weatherford girl.

Weatherford Police say the allegations came to light after the girl’s parents discovered Diego Alejandro Cortez had been in their home.  The girl told investigators that she met Cortez through a social media platform and that they soon began a sexual relationship.

He reportedly told the teen he was a service member stationed in Abilene.  Cortez was taken into custody by Abilene Police on a charge of sexual assault of a child.

Investigators believe there may be more underage victims dating back to 2020.
