(Austin, TX) — A new report from an Austin-based insurance comparison site says two of the nation’s ten most dangerous roads pass through the North Texas region.

The report says I-20 is the second most dangerous highway in the U.S.  The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported 208 fatalities on the highway in 2019, or nearly 14 per 100 miles.  The highway passes through most of North Texas – including Palo Pinto, Parker and Tarrant Counties.

In addition, I-35 is the fifth deadliest highway in the U.S. with 197 fatalities in 2019, or more than a dozen deaths per 100 miles.  I-35 splits North in Denton County to pass through Fort Worth and Dallas and then rejoins to the South in Hill County.

The report didn’t say where most of the accidents on these highways took place.
