(Fort Worth, TX) — A North Texas judge is not making a decision on whether to move the trial of the now-fired cop accused of shooting to death a Black woman inside her own home.
Aaron Dean’s attorneys told the district judge today there’s no way the ex-Fort Worth cop can get a fair trial due to publicity. Dean is charged with murder after Atatiana Jefferson was killed in October 2019. Police were called to her home after a neighbor told dispatchers the front door of Jefferson’s home was open. Body camera footage shows Dean shoot Jefferson through a window without identifying himself.
Dean’s trial is set for next month.
