(Austin, TX) — Construction is expected to start soon on a stretch of the wall on the Texas-Mexico border.
In June, Gov. Greg Abbott gave the Texas Facilities Commission the job of completing the border wall. Commissioners last month approved a contract to build about eight-miles of border wall to fill gaps in the unfinished wall the federal government started during the Trump administration.
The contract for up to 162-million-dollars went to a civil engineering firm in New York.
The first stretch of the wall will cover nearly two-miles in Starr County.
