(Austin, TX) — The Texas attorney general’s office is telling the state Supreme Court the developers of a bullet train can’t use eminent domain to secure the right-of-way.
The 240-mile high-speed rail project from Houston to North Texas has the support of civic leaders, but is encountering resistance from the residents of the counties in between.
A Leon County landowner is suing Texas Central, saying the private company doesn’t have the eminent domain authority granted to railroads.
The attorney general’s office commented at the invitation of the Supreme Court.
