(Fort Worth, TX) — A Fort Worth landmark with a notorious history is being torn down.
Millionaire T. Cullen Davis built the Stonegate Mansion near the TCU campus in 1972. In 1976, Davis’s 12-year-old step-daughter and the boyfriend of his estranged wife Priscilla Davis, were both murdered in the mansion. Priscilla was also shot but survived.
Davis was charged with the killings, but acquitted during his sensational trial. He moved out of the Stonegate Mansion and declared bankruptcy in 1985 due to mounting legal fees. Since that time, the mansion has been a Mexican restaurant and a wedding venue.
The mansion’s current owner and city officials are discussing what to do with the property.
