(Austin, TX) — The Texas secretary of state is defending the ongoing audit of the state’s 2020 election results.
Gov. Greg Abbott appointed John Scott, an attorney from Fort Worth, to carry out the audit in October. The results of the first phase were released on New Year’s Eve and showed no wrongdoing or irregularities in electronic and hand counts of ballots in Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, or Harris Counties.
The second phase is underway and will examine election records to make sure election administration procedures were followed properly.
