(Burleson, Tx) – What started as a road rage incident in Burleson turned into a violent crime spree with the stabbing and kidnapping of a 17-year-old Itasca girl and her mom.
The Cleburne Times Review reports the suspect, Casey Phillips was arrested Thursday morning in Hubbard by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force. Burleson police say it started Tuesday night when Phillips cut off a woman driving on I-35W near Renfro Street. She flashed her lights at him and that’s when he pulled a gun and fired shots at her car.
Phillips headed south and later abandoned his vehicle in Itasca and dumped the gun. Itasca Police say at a local Sonic, he then tried to steal a car driven by a 17-year-old girl, whose mother was in the passenger seat. The girl was reportedly stabbed while trying to fight him off. The two women jumped out of their car as he was driving off. Phillips later crashed that car on FM 67 in Hill County.
Itasca Police say he was injured in the crash and taken to a Waco hospital where he apparently walked away. He was eventually tracked down and apprehended.
Itasca Police charged Phillips with aggravated robbery and kidnapping, assault and car theft. Burleson PD added aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
