(Dallas, TX)  —  Wireless carriers will cooperate with federal officials by limiting new 5G service around major airports for the time being.

DFW and Love Field are two of the 50 nationwide airports that the Federal Aviation Administration named in its request for the 5G buffer zones.  The FAA’s concern is that the new 5G C-band signals could interfere with aircraft navigation.

Verizon and AT&T agreed to create the buffer zones for six-months while the FAA studies whether the signals interfere with aircraft instruments that are used in low-visibility landings.
