Many Migrants Released At Border Not Checking In

(Washington, DC) — Nearly half of all immigrants who were caught at the border and then released with instructions to self-report have failed to check in with immigration authorities.

Texas Republican Congressman Mike McCaul says this is a huge problem and a national security threat. The report, penned by the head of homeland security, was in response to a request from the Senate Homeland Security Committee.

In total, Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas writes that there are a little more than 47,000 illegal immigrants who disregarded the order to check in with ICE.
