(Granbury, TX) — A Granbury man is under arrest for his role in the unrest at the Capitol a year ago.
56-year-old Stewart Rhodes III was arrested Thursday on a charge of seditious conspiracy. Rhodes is the founder and leader of Oath Keepers, a patriot-themed group, described as a large but loosely organized collection of individuals, some of whom are associated with militias. The Justice Department says members and affiliates of the Oath Keepers were among those who forcibly entered the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
According to the indictment, Rhodes entered the restricted area of the Capitol grounds and directed his followers to meet him at the Capitol. 9 other members of the group were also charged in the case. Rhodes is the only one from Texas.
