(Dallas, TX)  —  A new poll shows Gov. Greg Abbott has nearly doubled his lead over Democratic challenger Beto O’Rourke.

The latest Dallas Morning News / UT-Tyler poll has Abbott leading O’Rourke by 11-points, at 47-to-36-percent.  The double-digit margin is a five-point pickup for Abbott since November.

Abbott is still the most popular GOP elected official statewide, even though he’s faced criticism from both parties for his early handling of the pandemic, and for the problems with the state’s power grid during last February’s winter storm.
