(Dallas, TX) — A Winter Storm Watch goes into effect across North Texas from 6pm Wednesday through 6pm Thursday.
The National Weather Service issued the watch ahead of a front that’s expected to bring snow and ice starting late Wednesday and into Thursday. Nearly two-dozen counties are under the watch, including Bosque, Comanche, Eastland, Ellis, Erath, Hamilton, Hill, Hood, Jack, Johnson, Parker, Palo Pinto, Somervell, Stephens, Tarrant, Wise and Young Counties.
The weather service has also issued a warning for Archer, Clay and Wichita Counties up along the Red River.
Forecasters say accumulations of snow and ice in parts of the region could make travel difficult and dangerous. Gusty winds and ice accumulations could damage utility lines and cause power outages.
TxDOT crews have spent the last couple of days treating the major roads for ice.
