(Fort Worth, TX)  —  Former American League MVP, ex-Texas Ranger Josh Hamilton has plead guilty to misdemeanor unlawful restraint in Tarrant County.

Prosecutors announced a plea agreement with Hamilton on Tuesday requiring the former Rangers outfielder to attend anger control counseling and parenting classes.  Hamilton was also given a $500 fine and community service.  He was originally arrested in 2019 after one of his daughters claimed he pinned her down and hit her during an argument.  Hamilton was indicted by a Tarrant County grand jury in 2020.

Hamilton played nine seasons in the Major League with the Rangers, Reds, and Angels after being drafted by Tampa first overall in 1999.  His career was hampered by substance abuse issues and later injuries.
