(Austin, TX) — The state of Texas is beginning to divest in Russia to demonstrate opposition to the invasion of Ukraine.

State Comptroller Glenn Hegar says his staff is reviewing every state contract in search of ties to Russian-owned businesses.  Texas has the world’s ninth-largest economy and is the nation’s top state for exports and energy production.

The move comes as ships loaded with Texas natural gas sail for European ports.
