(Odessa, TX) — Federal investigators are giving an update on that deadly wreck in West Texas that ended with nine people dead.
The NTSB says a 13-year-old boy was behind the wheel of a three-quarter ton pickup truck, which crossed into oncoming traffic and hit head-on, a van carrying the University of the Southwest golf team. The coach and six teammates were killed in the crash. Two other students are in critical condition. Investigators found that the pickup was going about 75-miles an hour when a spare tire on the front had a blowout.
The NTSB says the boy and his father in the pickup were not wearing seat belts and one was ejected. Both died at the scene.
