Deputy Killed In Central Texas Wildfires

(Eastland, TX) — An Eastland County deputy is dead after trying to save residents from a devastating wildfire.

The Cisco Police Department reported that Deputy Barbara Fenley perished in the flames while going door-to-door to evacuate residents in Carbon.  So far, Fenley is the only confirmed death in the Eastland County Complex Fire.  As of Sunday night, the wildfire had burned more than 54,000 acres and was only 30% contained.

The Texas Forest Service Tweeted that 3 new wildfires had ignited in the area on Sunday.
