(Carbon, TX) — Communities affected by the Eastland Complex and Big L wildfires are banding together in their time of need.
A relief site set up outside the Carbon Volunteer Fire Department has already seen a huge influx of donations according to organizers. Nearby, the Comanche County Medical Center has set up a mobile clinic to help firefighters in need of medical attention. A local BBQ restaurant even opened its doors to feed the displaced and first responders.
Residents in the Lipan area were able to return home Monday morning after a mandatory evacuation was enacted late Sunday afternoon. Two structures were lost in that fire and four firefighters sustained minor injuries.
In Granbury, the city will be accepting donations again today between 9a – 6p at Decker Gym on West Bridge St. Non-perishable food, lip balm, eye wash, alcohol-free wipes, over-the counter pain relievers (Tylenol or Advil), and body lotion. Water and sports drinks are not needed. Due to public health restrictions, no clothing items are being accepted.
