(Austin, TX) —  Gov. Greg Abbott’s order requiring the inspection of every commercial truck crossing into Texas from Mexico is now repealed.

The mandate caused major delays at the border for days.  Abbott announced Friday that he had entered a security pact with all four Mexican border states, who promised they would do more on their side of the border to prevent trafficking.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is to return to carrying out random spot checks.  Abbott says he won’t hesitate to reimpose the order if he thinks it’s necessary.
