(Weatherford, Tx) – A Weatherford College baseball pitcher is facing uncertainty and possible expulsion after tackling an opposing batter that had just hit a home run off of him.

It happened during the 6th inning of Wednesday’s game in Weatherford between the Coyotes and North Central Texas College.  In a video that’s gone viral, WC pitcher Owen Woodward can be seen charging after North Central Texas’ Josh Philips as he was rounding third base, headed for home.  The umpires called the game after the benches cleared and a brawl broke out.

Weatherford’s baseball coach, Jeff Lightfoot, said in a statement. “We do not condone this type of behavior….. We are completely embarrassed by this incident, and we apologize to North Central Texas College and the fans of WC baseball.”

Both schools are in the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference.  Weatherford College is investigating the incident.
