Fort Worth To Start Mining Bitcoin

(Fort Worth, TX) — A North Texas city is going to become the first in the country to mine Bitcoin.

The Fort Worth City Council unanimously approved the plan Tuesday to have three crypto mining machines run for the next six months. Mayor Mattie Parker tells Fort Worth Star-Telegram the city wants to see if the program will work and make Fort Worth a more welcoming place for technology.

The plan is to have the miners run on a private network to avoid exposing government data.
