Treasury Department To Probe Abbott's Use Of Federal Pandemic Money

(Austin, TX) — The Treasury Department inspector general’s office is opening a review of Texas’ use of pandemic relief money.

Gov. Greg Abbott moved 500-million-dollars from several state agencies to cover the expenses of Operation Lone Star, Abbott’s border security initiative. Seven Democratic members of Congress asked Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen this week to look into whether Abbott is using federal pandemic relief money for the multibillion-dollar border operation.

A spokeswoman for Governor Abbott’s office denies the claim.
