(Granbury, TX) — The state’s largest battery energy storage facility is now online in Hood County.

Vistra Corporation announced on Monday the activation of the DeCordova Energy Storage Facility in Granbury.  The facility can store 260-megawatts, enough to light up about 130-thousand Texas homes during normal grid usage.  The lithium-ion battery system stores excess electricity from the state power grid.

It can release energy when demand is high, such as during severe summer or winter weather.
