(Walnut Springs, Tx) – The Forestry Service has dropped the evacuation preparedness request issued earlier for residents of and around Walnut Springs.

No evacuation is expected at this point, as firefighters were able to get the 600 acre grass fire under control late Thursday.  The Bosque County Emergency Management Office posted on its Facebook page that, “Anyone who would like to donate food in the form of pizza, sandwiches, burgers, etc. are asked to take those items to the Walnut Springs Fire Department”.

In connection with the firefighting efforts, the Somervell County Sheriff’s Office posted a message to residents who might spot planes in the sky that “if low flying aircraft is spotted flying near the power plant, it is the forest service. They are scooping water from the reservoir to drop near Walnut Springs.”
