Baylor Bears Live Mascot Dies

(Waco, TX) — The Baylor bear has died.

The school’s mascot, who went by the name Joy, died this week. The North American Black Bear was surrounded by her caregivers, staff and veterinary team. Joy has been the University’s mascot for more than two decades.

Baylor hopes to receive two cubs next year to continue the tradition.
